Il Volo!

Studying Breakthrough Italian this semester as part of my English Language degree is my excuse for my recently developed obsession with these three.

Il Volo are an Italian trio who sing classical love songs and will genuinely melt your heart with their voices, which sound beautiful even when they sing in English. I completely love them already, especially Gianluca... even if he is about 3 years younger than me (they are all about sixteen, mi dispiace).

Anyhow, give them a listen, even if you aren't keen on classical music, they definitely make it worth listening to. (A bit like how Micheal Buble made swing cool again, Il Volo are worthy of everyone's attention no matter what genre of music you prefer).

Singing parrots

Strangely entertaining. I don't think there's anything I need to say about this one!

This one sings Bodies by Drowning Pool

Just generally entertaining, it even does a little Spongebob skit.  (Skip to 2:00)

Karl Pilkington

If you haven't watched Karl on The Ricky Gervais Show, or An Idiot Abroad, I reckon you're missing out. Coming out with endlessly ridiculous theories about the world and questions that just never occur to the average person, much to the amusement of Ricky and co-host Stephen Merchant, Karl provides buckets of humour to both shows.

Often being quoted from his diary (read aloud by Stephen) Karl has been heard saying things like:
"The way I look at it, if something that size (an ice cap) falls into the water it's like a big ice cube, and it's gonna freeze it up again." and "We're always making more and more stuff, right um, in the world, yknow big buildings, big planes, big boats and that. Will we ever get to a point where all this is too heavy for the world to handle?"
Here's a clip from The Ricky Gervais Show.

Okay so I'm not the kind of person you'd end up having a debate with over politics, not that I'm not interested in politics, it's just not something I'm very well educated in. This is why I am doing a degree in English language, and not in politics.

However I do appreciate political-based humour. Especially when I understand it. And I do know that I am a fan of Barack Obama.  So here's something we can all enjoy, well versed in politics, or not.
